Sony remote problem - new remote or other solution?

Our current Sony smart TV remote stopped working correctly. I can swap out batteries and the apps/inputs/settings buttons will work one time but they will stop working after that. The TV is registering than an input is being made into the remote (as indicated by the flashing light at the bottom of the TV) but no action occurs afterwards. Is there some troubleshooting I can do to fix this or should I just buy a new remote?

Cant help you there but wanted to say this lol.
I just bought a brand new X90L and loved the remote and the rubber-textured back it came with. However, I returned it the next day and bought a 65" Bravia 8 OLED for double the price, and the remote is just smooth-finish plastic. I'm kind of disappointed in the "more expensive" remote lol
