I painted the rest of the outside of the house, but I have three dormers that I can't easily reach.

It's a small job, so don't know if I could get some guy from home depot to do it? What do y'all think? What are my options?

How steep is your roof that you don't want to tackle it yourself? Or is it you just don't like the idea of being up there????

I know most of the time you can't reach them from a ground ladder since they are usually built several feet from the roof's edge.

I've painted plenty of them over the years and just make it a habit to be safe and most of the time you can do it while sitting down on the shingles to let them hold you in place. You can do like roofers and bring up a nice size pad of foam rubber to kneel or sit on and that will hold you in place nicely.

I would be hesitant to get someone from HD's parking lot looking for day labor to be up on my roof. There is potential for opening yourself up for trouble if something should happen.

I can understand that. Some folks just don't like heights or the sketchy footing on a roof with the pitch and all.

Get some real painters to look at it and give you a price. Put the word out at the local Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paint stores. Those guys do work like that all the time.

You might need to get it out of your head that its a "small job". While the area to be painted might be small, the location might make it into a more significant job.

I'd rather paint a gallon on while standing on the ground than quart up at sketchy roof location.

I'd avoid the homedepot labor since there are a lot of ways it could go wrong.

Expect to pay a full day for a painter or two.

Throw in how much prep work may be needed with sanding/scraping, priming, caulking and likely 2 topcoats of finish paint and it is a decent amount of work that likely won't be done in one day.

Especially on 3 dormers-------and right now, it's hot as hell on a rooftop.
