These days that's legally part of recruiting so I'd say it's an aptly named board. No different from pro free agency, management companies chasing clients, corporations searching for the best and brightest there is amongst major competition. All of them, along with many others, "recruit" as part of their business models. Money is always part of it.
Why should adulthood start at 18 for everyone but college athletes? In fact me and you could start our professional career before 18 if we so choose. What makes us different? Even these athletes would be accepted if they worked at McDonalds but how dare they make money off a skill they have that few others do. The colleges and boosters aren't being forced to pay. Every university around could drop the sport. Wonder why they dont?
