Looks like they are going to try and capitalize on Minus One's success. Definite must see for me.

Gkids will release the 2016 feature in theaters on Aug. 14, with a home release to follow. The film distributor is set to release “Shin Godzilla” in its original Japanese language with subtitles, including restored text cards and a 4K remaster that has never before been released in North America.

My biggest problem with Shin Godzilla is that it’s front loaded with the Godzilla action and then waits until the third act to focus in on boring human political drama.
But I do love the final shot of the movie before credits. Wow.

I agree with your assessment, but it is a good movie overall. I just love any chance to see a Godzilla movie on the big screen.

I avoided watching Shin Godzilla because it looked too 'foreign' and weird. I mean, the googly eyed early stage of Godzilla just turned me away.
Plus it looked like a full on horror movie.
But in context, it makes more sense. And understanding the messaging of the 'human' side of the story made it all that more interesting. As a commentary for the failures and dismal response by gov after the Fukushima disaster from the massive quake and tsunami of 2011... I'm glad I saw it.
Curious numbers trivia : Nov. 3 is recognized as Godzilla day in Japan. (11-3)
The Great Tohoku earthquake, which served as the origins for the theme of Shin, happened on March 3. (3-11)
