Looking to do a play n stay in Lake Charles in the middle of the week in June. Never played out that way. What is a must play over there?
The plan is to play a nice course in lake Charles, stay the night at Lauberge and play a different course the next day, then come back home to Baton Rouge.

I’ve played the Golden Nugget & L’Auberge golf courses, both very nice. Can’t speak of the others…

Gray is private now I believe, National is best bang for your buck
I'd drive to Kinder if it fits your schedule

Nowhere close to Lake Charles. Why do people from La insist on driving as far away as possible from where things actually are?

the Golden Nugget course. Koasati isn't worth the drive if you're staying on site at L'auberge

Nothing worth playing in Lake Charles. You are going to need to Drive to NY and play Bethpage Black if you want to play a decent golf course.

Play Mallard the first day and then stop and hit the Bayou Bend dogfight in crowley on the way home

Do NOT play National in Westlake. DO NOT. This place has gone to hell, greens are terrible and have been for 9 months, they can’t get it together and the green fees don’t reflect it.
Either casino would be fine, mallard golf club is usually in good condition, it’s a different type of course than anything else here. Links style, very firm.

The National is not in that bad of shape. Not great, pristine, but not that bad. If you can get on Gray Plantation, play it. Next Mallard Cove, Golden Nugget and La Berge. Sulphur is a fun little course, and I hear it's in good shape.

Their greens aren’t terrible anymore? Typically the course in general is okay..

quote:No. Like I said, not pristine but not terrible. Played there a couple of weeks ago. Now the putting greens are shite, not the regular greens.
