I imagine some of these kids are LSU caliber players. Anyone have info on who we may look at and who's really good?
11. Houston Bates (TE/DE, 6'3, 230)
12. Gavin Webster (ATH, 6'0, 180)
13. Jeremy Meyers (QB, 6'2, 195)
14. Eric Thomas (WR, 6'1, 195)
15. Taylor Burch (QB, 6'3, 195)
16. Churphy Stewart (DT, 6'1, 272)
17. Karl Butler (CB, 6'1, 180)
18. James Gillum (RB, 5'11, 186)
19. Sheddrick Davis (WR, 6'3, 200)
20. Jarrett Fobbs (ATH, 6'0, 185)
I imagine we're looking to sign 1 QB next year and if we can't get Heaps, Broadway or the kid from Texas...do we look at these two guys, specifically Burch?
Dandydon seems to think Bates will be a DE, and it looks like a smaller DE at that weight. I imagine we'll be offering him early as we need smaller DE's fairly bad (especially if we cant get Montgomery).

Churphy Stewart(Breaux Bridge) will be rated higher if he proves his grades are in order and on track to qualify. He's as good or better than Charles Alexander coming out of high school.

I believe I read that he was willing to switch positions if it meant an LSU offer. Possibly an athlete?

I see him as a DB in college, most likely a safety. He played safety his freshman and sophomore years at Lutcher, then played QB this past year with the departure of Blaine Gauthier. Gavin runs a laser-times 4.5 and is really strong for his size. He can be a big hitting safety in college, but most likely not SEC caliber, but who knows. One thing is for sure, he's a high character player who also excels in the classroom. Great kid with a great future.

What more can you tell me about the sophmore WR Jarvis Landry other than he's a complete badass? Grades, etc?

Yeah no doubt. Fobbs is gonna be a 4 star guy imo. Top 5-10 in the state.

Which of these do we go after without a doubt?

First off, the guy is simply ridiculous. He can probably play any skill position on the field, offense or defense, and dominate. He's only about 5'11" 180 lbs., but he is only a sophomore. He reminds me a lot of Skyler in his sophomore season at LSU, before he bulked up. Granted that Jarvis isn't as fast as Skyler, but he is just as quick. Some of the things he did this year were simply unbelievable. On a punt return earlier in the year a defender had an angle on him, but Jarvis stopped on a dime and basically threw the guy away from him (think Reggie's run against Fresno in 2005). I'm talking about hurdling other players, spin moves, one handed catches, etc. He's the best player I've seen play in person in high school football since Ryan Perrilloux.
Now to the other things. First, the guy puts his team first. He'll do whatever the coaches want him to do and won't complain at all. He's a leader on the field, which is odd for a sophomore, but he's very vocal and tries to get the most out of the other players. For instance, this year in the dome, with Lutcher up 10-0 mid-way through the 4th, they had the ball on about the 30 yard line and facing a 4th down. Jarvis comes to the sideline and says "i got this coach, i want the ball". Next play he makes a diving one-handed catch for a touchdown. (my brother is an o-lineman for Lutcher, so this is how i know about this..haha). Anyway, as far as grades, that could and most likely will be an issue. If he were a senior this year, he probably wouldn't qualify, but he has 2 years to bring that up, and from what i've heard, thats something he really wants to concentrate on.
His favorite player is Crabtree and thus far he lists, or at leasts mentions, only one college of interest...Oregon. But he's young and hasn't gotten to the meat of the recruiting process yet. So there ya go...I'd love to see this guy continue to wear purple and gold after high school, and if he keeps it up, he'll be able to go where ever he wants.

Shouldn't be a problem. He can handle that as long as he keeps his head on straight. I have that from a reliable source in the school
As for the badass thing, I have seen several LHS games this year, and his hands and concentration on the field are the best I have seen in this area, definitely from a sophomore

Do you mind if I ask who your source is...initials will suffice

definitely.....he so smooth out on the field, its like he's playing in slow motion almost. Some of the catches he made this year, no normal sophomore could ever dream of making. He runs crisp routes, and if he gets a little open field, watch out, he's gone. Although most of the time he creates the open field for himself

Info comes from my wife, who is friends with a couple of teachers at LHS.
Who is your brother, if you don't mind me asking.

I'll have to pull out my program when I get home. From what I gather, Jarvis likes to clown, but he's too smart to screw it up.

BTW, you were talking about his plays this season. I forget which game it was, but it was at the end of the season (maybe Karr or E.D. White). Webster threw a bomb from right to left (home view) down the Lutcher sideline. Landry was covered and it looked like the ball was overthrown by like 5 yards, and he sprawled out and made a one-handed catch at the pylon. If my jaw could have literally dropped, it would have. You just don't see that in high school.

Tharold Simon 6'4 WR from Eunice, will fly under the radar b/c Eunice does not throw the ball, but will go to LSU camp an impress in my opinion. Texas A&M went to a practice during the playoffs and offered him on the spot.

Yea I forgot about that play. I think it was ED White (not positive), but yeah that play was unbelievable.
And yes Jarvis does like to clown around, but when he gets in-between the lines, he's all business. He should be able to pick his grades up because I think he's starting to realize that bad grades=no football
