If there are 20+ million illegals in US, shouldn’t there be ~100k ice agents?

If you really want this done, you have to commit to it. I quickly checked and there are maybe 30,000 ice agents.
It guess it depends on how long you want it to take. Within Trump’s four years? Within 12 years?
Or…..do they really want it completely done?
I suppose getting rid of the worst of the worst was the only priority. And then bipolar Dems are screaming,
“WE WANT THESE FANG MEMBERS BACK HOME IN THE US!”

Sorry to respond to my own OP, but I know you don’t just Wild West deputize fellas.
and you don’t peel away LEO’s from their normal duties and reduce law enforcement , so what do you do?

US Army, use them to actually protect our borders, free up ICE to do the roundups and deportations.

Not really. This is where sanctuary laws come in.
Most feds, including ICE/DHS, use locals to do actual on the ground enforcement.
So if locals were enforcing laws (Supremacy clause) and things worked like the should (how can they when our incompetent, legally and practically, former president didn't enforce laws) feds/ICE would simply liason and provide information down to the state and local level.
Besides, this SHOULD be a temporary thing so what happens when you have 100k ICE agents with nothing to do. They will find something, they are LEO, and that will mean overreach.
If anything, because this is an invasion by designated terrorist groups, national guard units should be used in place of 100k ICE agents. Let them face military tribunals as enemy combatants out of uniform.
See how the left howls then.

Umm, ICE has never been at the borders. All they do and have ever done is roundups and deportations.
