Soil Compaction

In North Alabama. Tifway 419 grass. Got some dead areas that look like deadpan on a golf course. Just bare dirt. Soil seems packed and dry. Water seems to just run off and never really soaks in that area.
Plan on aerating next month and looking for other things to do. Should I add some organic matter to it like Black Kow to help loosen up the soil after I aerate it?

I'd probably apply some carbon pro g to the lawn and then water with johnson and johnson baby soap mixed in a miracle gro container.
