Why do former anything have security clearance. I get that they need to pass info along to current personnel but they shouldn’t have continuous clearances. Should be treated more like a deposition on whatever info is needed

Was just coming to post this! I can't for the life of me understand why these has-beens need security clearance LONG after they've left their positions.
***ETA: Just quickly scanned an article that gives some cogent reasonings, but generally speaking and especially for FedGov swamp critters those clearances should be revoked post-haste once they leave. They can be reinstated if necessary.
