White men can’t jump (remake)

Stumbled upon this on Roku channel. Overall, it was entertaining for what it was. I’m just not sure why they used the ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ label. Title has nothing to do with the movie and outside of a couple forced similarities, the movie was nothing like the original.
Boards thoughts? Prob would’ve been more successful with a different name vs trying to use a classic film to attract attention.

Shouldn’t you be working at the office?

I thought it was decent. Here are my thoughts from an older thread:

So I watched this last weekend.
I enjoyed it fine enough. It's not very good, but isn't overly bad, if that makes sense. The characters are fairly predictable, and the one-liners are corny in a lot of spots (though some are pretty funny at times).
Harlow was okay, but not great. And the dude who played Sidney is pretty good.
The stakes are a lot lower than before though, and that kinda sucks. With the original, you had the threat of Billy's debt to the Stucci brothers (even though that ended up not being that big of a threat in the end, we didn't know that until it was over). And you could see him actually ruining his relationship and pushing Gloria away.
The plot points are changed up a bit, which is nice that it isn't just a shot for shot remake.
My biggest gripe with it: the basketball. There just isn't really a lot of actual basketball being played, and it's not very impressive outside of some extras dunking here and there. Even the tournament skips around and doesn't really show much.
Also, they had a great villain of sorts, with the white dude who played at Duke. But after the first tournament, he disappears and we don't really see him again, when he would definitely be playing in the main tournament.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to watch it. But if you're looking for a decently entertaining watch and you can't find anything, it's a decent option

I agree, I thought it was entertaining for what it was but had nothing to do with a white man not being able to dunk, like the original. I wasn't sure how i was going to feel about Jack Harlow the actor, but he did a pretty decent job.

I heard they were replacing the white dude with a black dude…

Legitimately one of the worst movies I’ve seen in the last 5–10 years
