Dependent Care FSA Tax Question: year it is paid or year it applies to

If I pay daycare in full by May 30 this year I get a discount. Otherwise I pay monthly. This would be for August 2025 through May 2026. The following year my son will be going to PreK so I will not have any future daycare funds to use on FSA.
I don't want to miss out on the dependent care FSA money so I'm curious how this would work.
If I pay in full in 2025 can I still use a DCFSA in 2026 to pay for half of the tuition that applies for January to May 2026, or would I only be able to use 2025 DCFSA for those funds?

My brain isn't working with your examples, but the eligible claim is for the period in which the care occurs/accrues. Sorry my kid is badgering me.
So you can't use 2025 plan year funds for care that won't take place until 2026 plan year, as an example.
Similarly, technically you cannot receive a reimbursement from a dependent care FSA in advance of the care actually being received. The administrator should pro rata it until you are paid in full.
I have access to something that can answer this question. Let me see if I can find the pro answer before someone steps in.
ETA: the Q&A I was thinking of involved indirect expenses like application fees, but it stated the same that reimbursement cannot occur until care is given. One would think of you paid now they would reimburse you until you maxed out your 2025 deferrals, and then you could submit the claim again for 2026 once that care accrues. You should contact your plan administrator about this for how they are going to handle it for ultimate clarity.

Basically this year I maxed out my DCFSA and I’ve already spent $4000 on daycare. If I pay in full for the rest of daycare it’s another $7600 to pay in May 2025 but only $3800 of that is for 2025. I would be able to fund my DCFSA for 2026. I just want to make sure if I pay this year I would be able to use 2026 DCFSA funds to refund myself.
I put it into ChatGPT and pretty sure I have the answer. But thank you!
“Even if you paid in 2025, you cannot use 2025 DCFSA funds to reimburse for care that happens in 2026. It’s based strictly on the date of care, not the payment date.”
ETA : thanks. I’ll check with my plan admin to make sure I can.

The deduction and the spend are for the calendar year. The timing of your school year payments are irrelevant.
