Any Warframe vets here?

picked up this game because its free and pretty fun. But is this the grindiest game of all time? Sheesh.
Playing as Volt, made it to Venus. Really enjoying the gameplay loop, but if i wanted a new melee weapon or a new warframe, it seems i have to commit my life to RNG grind, is that correct?
Or spend money for platinum, but id like to avoid that.
How did you vets acquire new warframes and cool weapons? Grinding bounties hoping for drops? Marketplace with credits?
I dont mind the grind, just trying to set expectations or see if i am missing something.
What mods are the best. Obviously melee damage, but what else did you all enjoy and find made killing stuff easier?

Played since 2017.
Grind prime parts and sell them as sets. It takes a bit to get going but once the grind really gets down you get lots of platinum, I've been able to make a few hundred daily. Then you buy slots and go grind for the frame, I know it is a pain but you gotta pray RNG does you well.
The meta has changed alot. For a beginner you'd probably want just normal damage like serration and pressure point, but also go for either crit chance or status. Look at what stats are naturally higher on your weapon. If its crit leaning invest in that, if its status leaning invest in that.

I’d also add a good idea is to join a guild with max research. They’ll have a few nice things that you can buy for credits. Make sure they have the Ignis Wraith too. It’s god tier or at least it was, haven’t played in a hot minute

Meta has changed, not as good as it was, but if you're just starting up its a fantastic weapon with amazing status, and crit.

I still play it pretty frequently I'll be level 30 once I stop being lazy and take the mastery test. Def a grinding game, only difference between buying stuff and not is skipping the grind. Pretty much everything in the game can be got for free minus some of the skins that are user created.

Stuck with it. Up to mr5, Jupiter star chart, completing rhino tomorrow and just need a control panel from a Cetus bounty to make frost.
Figured out upgrading and relics and such. Pretty fun.
Volt has been fun. Ready to try some others. Really enjoying unlocking new melee weapons, rifles, and figuring out the best missions to grind.
Haven’t done to warframe.market yet to barter, but it’s coming
