Discoloration at the site of my IV

I had a minor surgery last Friday the 20th and the nurse placed the IV in this location in my hand. Today was the first day that I’ve noticed this discoloration in the area. Any cause for concern?

Just looks like bruising to me. I hate hand IVs man. I had a procedure last month and was so glad when she went forearm instead of hand.

I tell them hands are off limit. Forearm like you mentioned is the way to go.
OP I think it’s just bruising in the hand. Any new or increasing pain?

Not abnormal and shouldn’t be any cause for alarm.

No increased pain thankfully. Just alarming because it discolored 6 days after the IV.

Bleeding under the skin. It is worse if you are taking a blood thinner or NSAID

Looks like normal bruising after an IV to me. Also, it may turn yellow before it goes away completely (just like a normal bruise).
Cause for concern would be: swelling, redness, heat to touch, &/or a streak up your arm (along the vein) which could feel "rope-like" to touch. It doesn't look like you have that.
