1. Alabama's Coffee, Wilson, and Smith are gone.
2. Georgia's Moreno and Stafford are gone.
3. Almost the entire USC defense is leaving which hopefully makes them drop 1-3 games next season. Which takes them out of the NC picture.
4. Chavis brings the swing back to the defense on the bayou.
5. Some combination of Jefferson and Shepard will light up the world!
6. Loston will be decapitating folks left and right.
Any others??

1. Alabama's Coffee, Wilson, and Smith are gone. They will bring in more players to compete.
2. Georgia's Moreno and Stafford are gone. See #1
3. Almost the entire USC defense is leaving which hopefully makes them drop 1-3 games next season. They play in a different conference.
4. Chavis brings the swing back to the defense on the bayou. I'll give you this one.
5. Some combination of Jefferson and Shepard will light up the world! See #4
6. Loston will be decapitating folks left and right. I am sure that will be called an "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty.
Hopefully, you understand that other teams happenings should not affect what your opinion of LSU's success should be.

But the SEC doesn't rebuild...they reload

So you're saying that the coming and going of players and coaches on other teams has absolutely no effect on how we win and lose our games against them? Wow

I say JL/JJ combo has far bigger impact on this team next season than RS/JJ.

But they will be young (see LSU 2008 with young players in key roles)

I live in GA and people here wish they had your optimism. They see those two leaving as a huge hit that won't be filled in 2009.

Could he have been talking about South Carolina, just wondering?

I say it is looking good because the qb situation will be hugely improved and the defense will be stout once again. That alone should make a world of difference.

Are you saying that our players are irrelevant in the winning and losing of those same games?

no because he said they could lose 1-3 games

No, but to say they will just replace all these players like Moreno, Stafford, Smith, Wilson, and Coffee with players who are perfectly comfortable with the offense coming off the bench is crazy. That's just my opinion.

The poster is referring to The University of South Carolina, i'm sure...and they are not even in our division of the SEC, nor do we even play them next season...
OHHHHH...He is speaking about South Carolina's possible run at a NC next season...Didn't know they were a serious contender for next season...

I was referring to the University of Southern California as they will be taken out of the National Championship picture with an average defense. Most ranters think the only important thing in life is a LSU vs. USC and I was just clearing this up for 2009.

I don't think the departure of certain players make a big difference. Especially someone like Stafford, Coffee...
The only player I have ever been happy about leaving a school was D-Mac from Arkansas, and we still lost to them this year!

7. Don't forget Cooper. I'm excited to see what he can do with our DBs.

7. We will miss Herman Johnson. Our run game can be good again if the QB can force LB's and safeties off the line of scrimmage.
8. We will miss 5 upperclassmen on the D-line. Our back 7 will be a strength but we have to develop consistent, quality linemen up front to stop the run.
9. LSU will be greatly improved but we still have the same meat-grinder of the SEC to get through.

Caldwell graduating from bama is bigger than Wilson and Coffee IMO. They also lose both TEs, one of which was pretty involved in thier offense. Nick Walker.

That game was lost because of two unforced mental errors that brought along two 15 yard penalties. That was not the only reason we lost obviously but you can't say that D-Mac leaving didn't have a negative effect on the team.
