I’m interested in building in the Lake Charles area. Does anyone know the cost per square foot for a bardominium. Just an idea.

Most of the cost is just the customized furnishment (kitchen cabinets/countertops, finishes, add on stuff)...the building itself is rather cheap...I've seen most people having a "decent" set up in the $150/sqft range here in the Greater Houston area.

Big part is most barndos have the enormous set up for a garage/shop space connected if you just do the simple rectangle layout.

My dream is 20x60x20ft tall, with a semi-wraparound porch on the dwelling side. Keep a 20x20x20 section for a shop and go two stories in the dwelling area...gets you roughly 3200. Can always come down on that if you don't want all the living or leave a portion one story for a great room.

Other big cost adder is insulation although the maintenance on these buildings is crazy efficient. Super easy to spray in foam walls and ceilings. Metal siding and metal roofing is highly functional and cheap with easy maintenance. I've heard of folks running typically underpowered A/C units on barndos cause they are sealed tight from the foam.

I recently got a Shell (including concrete, insulation, windows and doors) for about $38/sf.
Beyond that it depends on your chosen fit n finish. $100-250/sf finished.
