Between 2005-2022, birth rates decreased across the entire country

But Louisiana decreased the least at only -0.3% with second place North Dakota at -4.3%.

Keep on making based babies, Louisiana

Number 3 on the way. I absolutely love my children and don't mind how much I have to sacrifice for them. That being said, you have to give up exponentially more to have kids in this day and age than 20 years ago so I get why people aren't doing it (giggity) as much.

When you old fricks are collecting social security, you can thank my kids for keeping the ponzi scheme going.

I started to crack a joke about most of those Louisiana kids being lifetime welfare recipients. Then I looked up the food stamp data.

From 2004-2024 participation went up 23% while dollar amount of benefits went up 130%!

This doesn’t look like the usual distribution when looking at the statistical variances among states.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Louisiana and North Dakota #1 and #2 on anything. Maybe things related to O&G?

I wonder what gives.

Edit - Reddit thread gives the explanation of teen pregnancy dropping in all other states. I suppose, but you’d assume that the usual suspects would be right behind us in a stay of fertility.

Salt Lake City becoming less Mormon probably account for part of that drop

ND and Louisiana have a bunch of oil and gas jumps that pays well if you can pass a piss test and show up

Mississippi doesn’t
