Safety play from here on

I've pretty much avoided the Rant since Saturday night so my bad if Germans but does anyone else really want to see what we could get out of Kylin Jackson, Toviano and maybe more reps from Spears at Safety. I mean, how much worse could it be. It appears clear that JT and KJ are superior athletes to what we have out there now, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any input or ideas on those guys that I don't. Id hate to lose either to the portal when we are in such need of athletes at S

Spears is big, but he’s looked a little soft out there. No shame in that since he’s a true freshmen.

I've kinda felt the same about Spears but agree that being a true Freshman is a big factor with him but Toviano and Jackson have had more time here to add athleticism/physicality to the S group. IIRC in Miles first few years here we were calling for the younger superior athletes at DB to be on the field earlier which eventually happened. It sure seems like BK leans heavily toward seniority if there is any choice on the situation

Safety is by far the biggest weakness we have on this team and is the biggest reason we got shredded vs Bama.
Bama did exactly what it would do if I was going against lsu d. Force the safeties to play disciplined with good angles and open field tackling. And they failed massively. Bama didn’t do anything wild from a schematic standpoint. It was more like a high school game plan. RPOs, QB runs, and lots of quick screens / bubbles. Which takes our DL, pass rush and Weeks out of the game.
They didn’t attack our CBs at all. Strictly forced our safeties to play smart and disciplined and tackle in the open field. And they had no chance.
It’s the worst trio of safeties I have ever seen at lsu. Give someone a shot, doesn’t matter who they are. Just see what someone else can do.

Great post!!!
I would love to see Kylie Jackson play some. He may need to be told where to line up from time to time, but he is the only one back there that seems to have the athleticism and physicality to play with the bama’s of the world

I'd rather see the young guys at this point.
