Winning TOP: Let's Say Half of The First Down Deep Pass Plays Were Runs Instead...

And we still gained nothing on the play....

In last nights game, this would have still benefited LSU. Why? Because it would have burned the clock.

This was a point that a few of my fellow game watchers finally grasped towards the end when our D was clearly gassed.

When you throw a deep pass into double coverage and constantly put yourself in 2nd and 10, not only are you fricking your groove, you are also not winning TOP. Most of the time, we ran that same run play on 2nd and 10 and got nothing, then on third down we were throwing again.

How many times did LSU go three and out or even five or six and out, and only posses the ball for about a minute? I don't want to think about it, honestly.

Fact is, LSU had aTm where they wanted them early, and had multiple possessions with the ball up 17-7, only to keep the ball for just a minute of game time before punting it back. You can't do that over and over and over. Don't care how good the D is.

I could go on and on, but go look at the play by play summary. If LSU calls runs on just 10-15 more plays instead of deep passes, this is a different game on TOP alone.

Do we still lose because BK likely chokes it away settling for 3 long FGs? Absolutely.

Just basic shite a 10M a year coach doesn't get.

Doesn’t this also make the horrible decision to ‘get the ball first’ even worse?

It felt like the 3rd quarter lasted FOREVER, on both sides until Reed came in. 3 and out, back and forth. Sucked to watch us lose momentum like that.

Correct, but at least last night we lost the toss.

But yes, that's another stupid thing this 10M a year fraud does.

Last night we were fine though. We stopped the double possession before HT, and also held them coming out the locker room.

Again, problem is that we just didn't possess the ball due to shite, uncreative play calling. This is a BK special all the way. Get used to it.

Just brutal to watch us do that shite over and over.

Also, the only possession outside of our late TD where we almost scored on another missed 50 yard attempt....

We got thirty yards on penalties. We maybe held the ball over a minute on that drive before settling for another long miss.

It is maddening to watch our staff just make the same mistake over and over and over and over

For LSU fans it did, because you knew each time we went for a quick three and out possession, or settled for another 50 yard fg miss, that we were losing the momentum.

Got to hand it to Elko, he's a much better coach that BK and it showed. He put in his guy, established a strong run game, then wore us out knowing we were just going to keep the ball for maybe two minutes max IF we got it back.

BK's formula isn't hard to beat. Hell, if Nicholls has D1 talent this year they likely beat us with this formula.

I’m becoming a fan if the idea of just running the ball till it works. We are viewing the running game as a test and if we don’t get 5yds then stop running. But that’s not how real running games are established. Those plays still grind down the defense. But then Nuss can’t still miss 50% of his throws or we are toast. But I do think we give up on the run because it’s so vanilla and the one play we run is right to our weakest lineman. We haven’t had a running game since BK landed in BR. And that’s on him.
