Yancey wma
66° 3mph NE wind
Phase 4. Iron will s125

Hunted yesterday but the mosquitos were so bad I was too busy swatting to even post on here. The thermacell wouldn’t keep them away. Today I said screw it and brought a can of OFF. Had a ton of squirrel hunters yesterday, but they pushed a big doe on me. She passed at 30 yards but it was too thick to get a shot.
Changed areas today. In a little hardwood funnel with thick swampy stuff on both sides of the hardwoods. Bumped 2 does on the way in but they didn’t blow so I don’t think I spooked them too bad.

61 and a slight breeze.
Hunting a lock on over a game trail.
Mathews NoCam with Traypan broadheads.

Have a big temperature drop tonight so hoping for some movement.

Had 7 nice does come by but they were moving and at about 80 yards.

Good luck to everyone!

Sitting in a tripod stand
Mathews V3X 33

Decided to step out here for a little bit before I mow the lawn. I hoping one of the many does slips up. The Mrs wants deer roast.

Man I’m jealous. Counting down the days until I’m up there! I actually have a pinned place in Williamsburg that I wanted to check out my first year up there but we ended up going to another part of the state.

Did you ever try a fawn in distress call? Bowhunter friend of mine had some success with it early season.

Made a quick evening hunt by the house. Saw 4 or 5 does with fawns. The fawns need to hurry up and lose their spots by the 15th.

I walked up on one today bedded down. Was walking a slough edge, got that feeling I was being watched, stopped and looked around, a spotted fawn was like 5-6 yards away staring at me. We made eye contact and it got up and trotted off. Hoping I didn’t bump it towards predators. I have a soft spot for the fawns lol

Great hunting here and we were lucky enough to move out from St. Louis 10 years ago. Hunt in my backyard and fish in my front yard.

Property values have almost tripled but I never want to live in a city again.

You don’t hit whetstone? Seems like it would hold a few good ones. I’m sure it’s pain in the arse dealing with out of state people the first couple weeks of November, but before and after you should be able to take a good deer or 2.

I haven’t, but maybe I need to. I had 2 mature does come by, but just not into my opening. I may sneak back there tomorrow after work. But Tuesday is set aside for some public land hunting. I’m looking forward to the temps being in the 50s for the morning hunt.
