Brick Haley from the Chicago Bears is also being mentioned on the LSU defensive staff.

Any chance this is the main reason why the DC announcement has taken so long?

Chavis should be entitled to bring one or two of his preferred coaches.

I agree.....if you don't trust his skills as a DC, then why hire him?

Makes you wonder what's going on behind closed doors. Somehow I doubt that Miles is just not letting Chavis guide the choices...

Is Haley clearly better than Brooks? I say that if it's pretty much even, go with the guy that the DC wants.

BTW and FTR, I wanted to see Coach O here, but we may actually be better off without him. The majority of the folks on here who wanted him (myself included) were more interested in his recruiting abilities than his coaching acumen. Considering the class that Josh Henson is bringing in, could we really have done much better if O was here? If the answer is no, and Brooks or Haley (or Jenkins) can get it done with the D-line, then we should still be in great shape. My two primary areas of concern (#1 DC, #2 QB) seem to have been addressed, so I'm a happy camper!

thats not how it works, most coordinators have input.

I expect Brooks to be on the staff. We want him not Slade!!

input, ok. Absolutely being able to bring in 1 or 2 guys no matter what that are your buddies, no. All the people on here that claimed the reason that half of Chavis' recent defenses sucked so badly was because of no talent. So, Chavis himself doesn't recruit worth a damn and we let him bring in 2 of his BBQ buddies who can't recruit either. Makes sense if we want to go 5-7 every other year.

Which coaches did Pelini bring with him?
Who did Muschamp bring with him to Texas?

I think we'll be okay in any number of ways we go with this hire....whether it's Brooks, Davis, Haley. I wonder if Miles has any interest in Tracy Rocker.

Its not like Brooks is crap though. Its not just to hire his buddies. Its to hire a very good coach who has produced some big time players over the years.

and who had to split the d line coaching duties at UT with another guy. Will our DEs just stick their thumbs up their arse all practice while Brooks works with the DTs?

Agree Chavis should be allowed to pick Brooks. The DC and a new DB coach is enough getting to know one another. I think bringing his own DL coach would be a good move.

Its seems like the other guys was the "good old boy" coach who was a buddy of Brooks and just there.

Thats what I have figured out from the Tennesee people.
