Going to a concert in Chicago in August of 2025 and looking for a hotel for me, my wife and 2 kids (16 and 13). Was looking at the London, Loews and Trump International.

They are all right by each other, so in the same area.

Anyone have experience with these 3 and have a preference?

If you must choose one of these three, flip a coin between LH and Trump. LH might have the best rooftop here, but you don't need to be a guest to go. Loews is a slightly annoying walk to the Red Line.

ETA: These are obviously very nice hotels, so I anticipate that's why you only list out these three, but you're so far advanced planning that I'd continue to do some periphery research. The concentration of hotels in The Loop, River North, and around Mag Mile / Streeterville is wild.

Does that answer change at all if we don't plan to use the red line. Concert is at Solider Field and the museums we want to go to are walking distance to the hotel area.

Unfortunately the Cubs are out of town that weekend and White Sox play Yankees at home. Not sure i want to waste half a day at a White Sox game

Depends if you plan to walk there, I guess. Definitely don't think you'll want to walk back after the concert, but hotel location probably won't matter if you plan to walk there - probably 45-50 minutes from any of the three hotels. Otherwise, Red Line is a bit inconvenient for Soldier Field since it's a 20-minute walk from Roosevelt. What some people end up doing is taking Metra Electric (ME) from Millennium Station and get off at 18th St.

Still think you're better off at LH or Trump, with a lean towards LH.

London

Honestly can't go wrong with anything in this little triangle. I'd stay on the south side of the river, so I'd rule out Trump, but like Hoops said, def worth going to the rooftop at London.

Last time we were out there we stayed at the Pendry. You are in walking distance/near a train station for everything you are doing and is very easy and accessible.

The first time we were in Chicago we stayed at the end of Mag Mile at the Knickerbocker and we had to uber more than we wanted to (it was also sub 20 degrees).

Every time since though we stayed in that little triangle to be able to walk to everything we needed to get to or have easy safe access to the train.

(To add: Chicago Athletic Association is a neat hotel and your kids with the ages they are would likely enjoy the Game Room there. It's a very classic setup and very nice. Every time we are in that area we pop in for a drink and relax - They have a nice rooftop as well called Cindy's in their building that overlooks the Bean and views of the Lake)

Enjoy!

Palmer House.

Excellent location for all the things you mentioned.

Slight change of plans, could only get 2 tickets for Oasis so will be just the wife and I going. Ended up booking the London House.

Will start looking for a place to eat one of the nights. Thinking steak house but open for suggestions.

Girl and the Goat

Always a great rec, me and my wife experienced the first time in Chi, loved it.

So many great places in Chi though. Should be a great trip.

If you prefer steak, go with Bavette's, Butcher & the Bear, Asador Bastian, Boeufhaus, or Swift & Sons.

Outside of that, some ideas (I've provided some heavy lists in the past on this and F&DB, so also do a search): The Loyalist, Nettare, Union, Mi Tocaya Antojeria, Spacca Napoli Pizzeria, Hopleaf, Virtue, The Duck Inn, Qing Xiang Yuan (QXY)

I have about 200 more recommendations, but hopefully any of these catches your eye for dinner.
