Texas State fair 2024 eats

Just ate fair food all day.
Fried Dominican thing: Very good but literally tastes like 100 other fried things at the fair. Nothing stood out. Should not have been Big Tex pick.
Cotton candy bacon: Not good. The bacon at least helped wash the cotton candy down and off the teeth. I get why they decided to offer it, but not why it was a finalist.
Pancake battered hot chicken balls: bomb. Should have won best tasting.
Fletcher’s corny dog and fried Elvis PBJ/banana still reign supreme.

How were the attendees? I made it there one year, and the people were trashy af.
Food was on point for fair food, though.

Generally fine on weekdays and too crowded on weekends. You can go to their web site, read the promotions and events, then have a general idea of how classy the crowds will be. They’ve been doing the big Tex food awards for 15-20 years now so I think people are running out of ideas. Still fun to try though.

Greasy gas station corn dogs > state fair corn dogs.
