Agree, and afterall they beat Penn State whoopee and which conference is Penn State part of.....the Little 10+1. Yes their lower to mid level temas win a few games against other conferences but overall the teams who are at the top of their conference can't compete with the top teams of other conferences. They just can't

Pete might have a point. There's no proof that either Oklahoma or Florida is better than USC.

Mack Brown has a similar argument. We don't know whether or not Texas is better than Florida or Oklahoma.

Oh wait...

The BCS, fun as it is to put in your "resume" every year, is flawed.

i saw the pete's post game interview and he said nothing about getting "cheated". he just said that he can beat anyone in the country. you disagree with that?

They are using a whipping of Penn State to prove that they can beat anyone? They might be able to, but using blowouts against Big Ten schools over the past several years is really a sad way to suggest that you are capable of beating anyone.

One thing is for certain -- Pete Carroll gets his team ready for bowl games. Now, if he could just do it for every regular season game against the mid-level Pac10 schools they face.

While this is certainly true, USC and PC, just like UT, OU, UF and every other qualified Uni's AD/HC out there signs on to it annually.

Point being: if the ADs/college prez's don't like it, change it. Otherwise, live with it, just like an unfortunate and quite undefeated Auburn had to do in 04. The irony there, is that while USC may or not have still emerged victorious, it's a damn sure bet no SEC team is going to get itself azzwhacked in the first 8 minutes of a national championship game.

The BCS IS flawed, but if PC and USC don't like it, then don't agree to participate in it when the time comes to sign on to it. Or get USC's AD and Prez to start a move toward some kind of big boys playoff system.

Otherwise, do what everyone else does, live with it and quit yer bitchin'.

On a closing note, nice game against that other conference ... oh, and happy new year!

It actually seems as if USC is suffering from the relative weakness of their schedule. If the NCAA would just change the rules to allow for a conference championship, and if Notre Dame wasn't so shitty damaging SC's strength of schedule, everything would be fine.

There is no legitimate claim for the title except for the BCS champion this year, like it or not.

Oklahoma started that game with a TD. I get your drift though. I believe '04 Auburn deserved better.

Pete Carrol is a vocal proponent of a plus-one or playoff in college football. Pete Carrol is in the unfortunate position of "not the guy who makes the rules". The power people in college football like the system the way it is, I believe, because it makes them money. Lots of it.

I belive the bottom line is, well, the bottom line. And Happy New Year to you as well, sir.

You are right, but they need to have a little perspective. Blowing out or beating a Big Ten school in the Rose Bowl over and over again is great and all, but it's not going to convince anyone that you are the best team in the country. Everyone pumped up the USC-OSU game this year, and OSU didn't belong on the same field. But guess what? OSU beat up on the rest of their schedule so they can go to a BCS game.

USC needs to schedule some games against top tier SEC teams and top-tier Big XII teams and win those games if they want the national respect they think they should get. But for now, losing to a big underdog once a year will drop them to a point where they can never recover as the teams with respect from the media jump over them.

So yes, they cannot control that they are playing Big Ten teams in the bowl games, but they can control their regular season, and they use ND and Big Ten teams to "prop up" their SOS. That's a shitty way to do it.

IT IS SIMPLE....
Tell the media darling to INSIST on a Conference PLAYOFF (Championship Game).

yes, I know the PAC 10 plays each other...guess what...in the SEC, sometimes the teams in the Championship Game have already played each other.

*They play in a traditionally weaker conf.
*They play no championship game, thus
"1 less chance" of losing--to what would be a in theory, "the second strongest team in the conf."

while all the other teams that play a championship game, have "sort off" played in an "equivalent" National Championship game befoire playing the actual NC Game.

So little crying bo Pete, man up...
step to the plate and demand a Conf, game.

You know why?

Because they are 8-10 in BCS games as a conference, while the Pac 10 is 9-4 and the SEC is 11-4.

Why would you want to enter a playoff when your teams can't regularly win the one-time bowl games?

No he doesn't...unlike USC, he actually beat one of the teams playing for the title. He actually beat more than 1 real BCS team.

USC won the Rose Bowl 3x in a row, but they always play a weak Big 10 team. The announcers were saying what about an extra game with USC playing the OU/Florida winner. What about Texas and Bama that are in front of USC? Screw ABC/ESPN football commentators..., they're just talking heads given a script.

USC has beaten five bowl winners this season, and two BCS bowl participants. They belong in a discussion about the National Championship. Ball State, Clemson and Army do not.

Again, USC has beaten not one, but TWO real BCS teams. And yes, Mack Brown's argument is the better one against Oklahoma, but my point stands. The system is flawed, and the BCS produces only "Mythical National Champions" because of it.
