Just a few thoughts (long)

I've been following this Orgeron thing on and off, and I have to say I was somewhat ambivalent about it. Sure, it would have been nice to supposedly have an even better edge in recruiting, but I don't really think it's going to decimate the LSU program. At this point, I think it's more important that Miles revert back to CEO form and find the best defensive game coaches to prepare the talent on that side of the ball.
As for Coach O's future, I really don't think the so-called "mentoring" under Old Man Kiffin is necessarily going to turn him into a defensive coordinator. For that matter, I'm a little tired of hearing what a genius Monte Kiffin is when it comes to defense. In a hypothetical situation in which I could choose between him and Nick Saban, I'd grab Saban in a heartbeat. I also beleve that Orgeron has hitched his wagon to a dream. I think the younger Kiffin is overrated (did you notice that the raiders have actually improved somewhat since he was canned), and I think that the way UT is throwing money at assistants is a sign of desperation because they realize that Little Kiffin is a weak choice and will need a lot of help. After Meyer, Richt, Spurrier and Saban continue to b-slap him (and UT) into watching the bowl season from Knoxville each year, Orgeron will probably find himself back in the NFL coaching DL again (possibly for less money).

Kiffin was an awful DC with the Saints.

its not hard to be a defenive "genius" when you have Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber and John Lynch in their prime!!!

I mentioned in an earlier thread that maybe Tenn went so hard after Orgeron because they have some doubt about Kiffin's recruiting skills.
