soccer would be 10000% better if they adopted similar offsides rules to hockey

would increase scoring and really improve the show.

Why havent they thought of this?

Could be a cool thing for MLS to try to try to endear the sport to real sports fans

why is it unnecessary, the lack of scoring is the biggest issue outside of the diving/ theatrics

All that does is diminish the value of a goal.

The entire fricking world disagrees with you, except dumbass Americans. There is no “issue.” What is this “issue” you speak of?

But it wouldn't then be football would it? Hell it would be fun to see15 men a side playing with Basketball rules no off sides, fast break, but it would not be the wonderful game would it? They could be like baseball who juiced the ball in the 90s, or like the NFL who stopped calling holding and bent the rules to allow the offenses major advantages, when the games from the 80s and 90s were much better. At any point in time the defense or the offense could make a big play, now 39-38 is the hot thing, lol.

Leave Soccer alone.

The goal is too scarce as it is and therefore the game suffers by a lack of entertainment

hockey has solved this and has created a more dynamic and compelling spectating/ playing experience

Premier League average goals per game in 23-24: 3.2
NHL average goals per game in 23-24: 3.11

The game is not suffering at all. It’s the most popular sport in the world by a large margin.

The rules of the game weren’t designed to keep mouth-breathers, like yourself, entertained.

And if you want to talk about BORING….how many fricking commercial breaks do you have to sit through during an American football game? Isn’t it like 13 minutes of actual play time during an NFL game? And Soccer needs help?

Let me guess you love watching American football where you only actually watch 10% of the actual game. 90% of the real entertaining game is all commercials. Pundits. Guys in the booth. Kissing cam. sideline interviews. Etc.

Probably hate watching an actual play that doesn’t involve scoring

May as well play with sweeper keepers instead of a full time GK.

I will say this… I wish they were more lenient with the offside rule. Many great goals are taken away because a player was a big toe over an imaginary line. A player can time it perfectly and not leave early and not gain an advantage whatsoever, but because his toes were over an invisible and constantly moving line, a great goal is taken away. It’s stupid.

The ref should be able to use a little judgement when no advantage is gained to let the goal stand.

wouldn't work in England, they're all inherently biased/crooked. If the FA employed Turkish, Danish, and Italian refs then sure.., but the wankers that ref the premiere league all grew up hating team(s)

that's because you don't understand the game.

that's like watching baseball only for homeruns and not comprehending what else is happening in the game. or only watching boxing for knock outs.

you don't understand what makes a football player good or crappy nor tactics

You do realize, in a country that constantly talks shite about soccer, soccer is more popular than hockey. Why would soccer try to become more like hockey?

Also, if you don't like watching soccer, you aren't a "real sports fan".

That NHL figure is average goals scored per team.

The total goals scored per game is 6+
