Chavis is an unbelievable get, here!
If we get Ogre or Joseph this becomes a Crowton-like hire.
If we get both, this is the greatest possible outcome.

He's a "Florida fan" living in Lafayette. That means no one likes him and he's a virgin.

I'm with you on this one. I like the hire, as long as we get some top recruiters in, which it sounds like Les is looking at for the other spots.

He's a great hire. Defense was never Tennessee's problem, it was offense. Plus, he not going to leave in a couple of years to take a HC job like the UCLA guy or some to the others being mentioned.

Posted on another thread but worth repeating. I emailed a law school friend who is a Vol grad. He knows football. I asked him what he thought of Chavis. Here's his response verbatim:
"Top 5 DC’s in the NCAA. Has a rep of giving up 3rd & long among some anti-Fulmerites, but his defenses have made up for some really crappy offenses in the non-Cutcliffe years. The D stats are not huge, but a lot of that is due to them being on the field for 40 minutes. Were it not for him, Fulmer would have been canned ten years ago and we would not have won the BCSNC.
Any coach that produces Albert Haynesworth, John Henderson, Jon Wade, Sean Ellis, Leonard Little, Dwayne Goodrich, Al Wilson, Raynoch Thompson, and other top-flight NFL’ers can’t be bad.
All in all, good hire. I hope you don’t play us in the SEC title game anytime soon."
