This is acknowledging that my opinion is not worth a crap, but answering your question:

I like assistants with ambition who are looking to excel, not maintain a job. I liked Walker (young, firey guy with attacking defense and NFL experience looking to move forward), Vic Koenning (another young firey guy who has excelled at multiple programs) and George Walker (NFL experience and the guys he worked with/for are amazing). I liked Greg Robinson to a lesser extent but he does have a ton of NFL experience as well as head coaching experience(although it wasn't successful head coaching experience).

This is opposed to Chavis who has no NFL experience, plays soft coverage a lot, has been in one place for a very long time and all the SEC coaches have seen his tricks and style of D.

This of course is IMHO & FWIW which isn't much.


Again, Chavis is better than what we had, but I'm just not excited over the hire is all.
