Drew Brees threw that last pass away...

I'll bet anything he threw that away because he did not want the record in a losing effort. That pass wasnt even close. Call me crazy but i think Drew is that kind of person and i can respect him for that. He's still only the 2nd person to pass for over 5000.

He's not the type to try for a record in a losing effort but he's the type to essentially throw a game is what youre saying?

Bull, he was going for the win. The win meant more to him than the record. If he just wanted the record, he would have just thrown a 10 yard pass and let the receiver run for the extra yardage to get the record. He was throwing the ball down field in hopes of somehow getting a TD. I don't feel that Moore made a decent effort in going for the ball however.

Go for a win by throwing the ball 25 yds down field????

I'm glad he didn't get the record in that scenario. Only if it was for the win.
Today was the perfect scenario - fun, competitive game - lost a close one to keep our draft standing.

AU,You are the one who made a ridiculous statement in a ridiculous thread that you started.

That's right. And I stick by what I said. I pulled for Brees, Mcallister, the defense, and the team. I actually yelped out loud alone in my sun room when Shanle (was it?) came around the edge and sacked Delhomme.
You play to win the game.

“When I sit back and look at it, that record’s stood for a long time. One of greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game owns it,” Brees said, adding he wasn’t sure setting a new mark while his team fell to 8-8 was “necessarily the way that record deserves to be broken. That’s why I’m able to accept the fact it didn’t happen.”

if he threw it away then he did his teammates wrong

There is no way he threw that last pass away. If he had done that it would have been in the stands.
