We watched the 4th of July Boston Pops show last night and decided we want to go see it live. Has anyone done this before? I know the admission is free so how hard is it to get in? Are there hotels within walking distance? TIA

Ask AbitaFan08 on the travel board, he is our resident expert for all things Boston.

There are also a couple of other folks who live in Boston who are fantastic contributors, but admittedly I can’t recall their usernames

You can get in and plenty of other areas you can see fireworks from

Most people that live in Boston are elsewhere like cape cod or Maine or somewhere on the coast

I have twice. Once as a kid, don’t remember too much of the process. Second time as an adult, but we went to a friend of a friend’s apartment with a back patio on Storrow Drive, so we got to watch without the hassle of standing in line or crowds.

You have to line up pretty early to get in with a decent seat. It’s a really nice venue being right on the Charles River, but it’s an all day affair for sure.

Not my thing personally, but people do seem to love it.

Grew up watching the fireworks at the Pops every 4th of July. My brother in law lives there now, so my wife and I went this past weekend for the 4th. It was sort of a hot and muggy weekend and the crowds were out in full force. We got reservations at Joe's on Newbury at 9:15, ate and were done around 10:30, just walked down Exeter to Storrow street. We kept looking toward the Hatch Shell expecting to see the fireworks, but they wound up going off right in front of us. We had to walk a little down due to our view being obstructed by a few trees, but it was great.
