Govt mistake screws veterans

There are two types, voluntary and medical. You can’t take a voluntary and draw VA until that amount you got is greater than va comp over time but you can get VA with medical. These people knew this when voluntarily separating.

But I also know because I was in when the drawdown happened and people got out voluntarily or TERA. Medical is different, you either get 10%, 20% DOD rating or medical retired at 30%+, which is through a medical board. Then medical you also get a VA rating. Volunteer or TERA doesn’t get a DOD rating. However if you are 100% permanent and total after a few years you then rate same benefits of retired, minus retirement certificate and ceremony.

Yes except if you ever served you know not to frick around with pay because you know they will come for it.
Not dismissing the error or similarity to people getting forgave either for student loans which is bs.
