Think what you will about Geoff Ketchum and Orangebloods, but he makes some pretty damn good points about the hatchet job from the NY Times.

Here's the deal and we need to get this out on the table - either these are flat out lies or these are NCAA violations. There's very little wiggle room. If the mom is going to make these kinds of public accusations, she needs to provide names and details. Nothing less than that is acceptable.
The University of Texas and Mack Brown are not only committed to running straight-line programs, but they are proud of their commitment to doing things the right way. If something happened, it needs to be reported and the facts need to be exposed.
What can absolutely not happen is for McFarland's mom to open up Pandora's Box and think she can walk away without an explanation. Also, even though the article suggests that the coaches had zero involvement in these "offers," she must know that it doesn't make it any less legal.

I'm going to say this one final time and I hope McFarland's mom, the author of the story and the editorial board of the New York Times reads this …
These are allegations of serious NCAA rules violations. You cannot make claims like this and think that people are not going to ask for details of exactly what is being alleged.

This could be interesting.

Also, go look at all the articles written by the accusatory author...see a trend?

I'm pretty sure LSU is in violation simply from the female host part. If it is true of course.

how so? LSU cannot guarantee a girl will not sit in a recruit's lap...it is not against the rule to have a female hostess.

Agreed. I think the Mom crossed the line when she started to spout off about NCAA violations and she needs to put up or shut up.
If "J-Mac" wants to pick OU b/c he likes the schools, coaches, and facilities better, fine. If you want to say OU worked harder than the other schools in recruitment, go ahead. If Bob Stoops is a better Barbershop-watching buddy than Mack Brown and Les Miles and that's reason J-Mac chooses OU, be my guest.
But you allege major recruiting violations, you stepped over the line and you gotta come correct.

I thought it was and especially for one to make any kind of physical contact with a recruit...
Could be wrong but I could of sworn I read that as a NCAA rule. They do have a lot of retarded rules...

quote:your right, they have a million rules, none of which are enforced. there in lies the problem: they look the other way so much, then somethinhg like this comes out and they have to take action b/c attention was drawn to it. then UT is under the microscope when it has been alleged that OU is potentially breaking the bigger rules: having snared the blue chipper. this thing wont die quickly, "j-mac's" mom opened up a whole can of worms with this one...

Yeah, this ratchets up the intensity of the UT-OU rivalry.

Maybe the reason they butted heads so much is because he knows she is FOS.
Hopefully for him he gets past her crap.
She is probably practicing her Campbells Chunky Soup lines as we speak.
