Normal for Chrome to Start with 15 Processes?

Computer running sluggish at times. Task Manager shows Chrome running 15 or more processes as it starts and they persist. Rebooting and restarting Chrome does not change this.

I am assuming this is not normal.

Suggestions for fixing?

Just counted - I have 9. There's really none of those I'd want to get rid of.

You are going to have at least one process per Tab or Extension.

I have 44 running right now and only 4 of those are from extensions. I'm addicted to tabs.

Now I have 4 tabs open and 9 extensions - 40 processes!

I just chalk it up to Chrome being a hog.

They sell it as a stability feature: if one task fails, it doesn’t crash the entire browser.

But it’s annoying.
