Trying to decide between opal sands resort and Hyatt regency on Clearwater beach. Anyone been to either and can give me advice on which one is more desirable? Will be traveling without kids.

Don't know anything about Opal Sands, but the Hyatt was fine. Centrally located and across the street from the main beach. Nothing extremely fancy, but it's a nice hotel with decent amenities.

Thanks for the info!

Was it packed with kids?

Not that I noticed. We were there in mid-march 2019 for a work meeting, so I wasn't tuned into the crowd.

Don't recall it being unmanageable, but that could def change with the timing/season.

Don't know about the Hyatt but we stayed at Opal Sands for a couple nights. Was about this time last year. Don't recall seeing any kids. Resort was nice, good dining and pool bar. Beach was a little walk but was plenty nice. Almost kind of secluded with a breakwater next to it creating a swimming area although it was a bit shallow until you got out further.

Frenchie's if you want some good fried food.

One thing I remember about Clerawater Beach is that it doesn't matter where you stay. They are still going to charge out the arse for chairs and unbrellas.

Frenchie's is solid...I prefer the Rockaway location, but ymmv.

My biggest gripe with Cwater beaches (as of the last time I went, which honestly has been a while) is that you can't drink on them...unless you bought from the upshore hotel/bar.

Even fricking adults. It's maddening.
