At this point pretty much everybody was just sick of Vietnam. Nobody knew what winning would look like and just the unfairness of kids able to afford college not being drafted led to the lottery.

A close family member was drafted and went to Vietnam at 18. He verified everything I heard on the podcast. He said they had people fighting with him who could barely read or write. It was really sad. They clearly should not have been in combat as he was in an infantry unit.
