Mom has a 2003 Grand Marquis.
Her car makes a rumbling noise between 40 mph and 60 mph, kind of like running over a rumble strip on the edge of the highway.
My mechanic diagnosed it as torque converter shudder. Transmission shop will service trans, flush and refill trans with fluid and filter for $250. May help it, may not. If it doesn’t help, was told $1800 for a transmission rebuild.
