Dude I’ve never heard a tonsillectomy story that is anywhere near as bad as 3 straight months of strep. I would’ve scheduled the surgery after week 2 or 3 of strep. Even if you recover from strep, your tonsils are so fricked and scarred that you’ll want them out anyway. Man up and get those frickers removed.
