I have the Vortex Diamondback HD 10x42 and they seem to be good. I think you can find them on sale for $150

thanks, tigers84... i have the vortex diamondback too (also upon prior suggestion from the OB)... i was looking for some for my 16 y/o son now; and saw those mentioned in the OP on sale...

I have had these for 4 or 5 years. No complaints.

Same. I’ve been pleased with them, good clarity and no fogging, and reasonably compact. I got some sort of deal at Cabela’s a couple of years ago buying those and a range finder at the same time.
