Ernest is by far my most favorite nostalgic movie and always will be. Bought the DVD decades ago and introduced my kids to it. Ernest Goes To Camp is completely separate from all the other movies, it's a genuine good movie even with him singing the sad pitty song. All they wanted was a hero. All he needed was friend.
Fun fact: in the poker playing scene, he talks about working as a roughneck down in Delacroix.
