I think Toho has a deal with Legendary, to "not frick with" the American audience.
As I understand it, that's why G-1 was pulled from the theaters so quickly, and why it isn't streaming yet over here. If that's the case, I think it will show up soon after Legendary's movie goes to a service (Max, right?).

I don't know who has ties to Toho, or what service it will be on.

I've toyed with the idea of setting up an Amazon Japan account somehow, just to buy the Blu Ray set. I'd rather get one with English subtitles, but worst case scenario I could live without it.
