In our Ordinal Differential Equations class, our professor (and head of the department) would have the test questions on the blackboard when we arrived. He would give a few opening remarks and leave the room. Instructions were to drop off the exam in his office when complete.
I was very proud of the class in that absolutely no one ever cheated in the class. One guy asked a question once, and no one answered him.
If you made an algebra mistake in this class, it wasn't counted against you as he explained if you didn't know algebra you wouldn't be there. However, a DE or calculus mistake would cost you the entire problem. No partial credit on the individual questions.
God, I loved that class.
