Threw it starting at 11 years old!

My first route was both sides of Bonnabel between the I-10 and Vets, then two streets either side. My second route was the West side of Bonnabel, Hesper, Hesiod and Beverly Gardens from Metairie Road to Homer. I threw that strip mall where Blue Line Cafe, Oscars and Zocalo are today. The only customer I had there, though, was the old man who ran Cuban Liquor, which is long gone.

Klondikes Bakery was there, and that’s where we all gathered Sunday mornings after throwing the Times Picayune Sunday paper (The SI didn’t have a Sunday then, and it was owned by the Picayune). What is now The Little Red Schoolhouse was a movie theater and the Majoria Drugs was a Giorlandos grocery. Back then Majoria Drugs was about where Porter and Lukes is today. There was also a Morgan and Lindseys five and dime in that strip by Porter and Lukes.

Everything has changed since then, except St Catherines and Sals Snoballs. Even Metairie Middle (Haynes) just got torn down.
