It used to be that stuff on Amazon was usually more affordable and with prime the shipping was quick and free. Most stuff I look for now is slightly higher than other online sources and the shipping is slooooowwww. For example Amazon was my go to for years to buy hardware, especially fasteners. Even name brands like Hilti were cheaper than they were from distributors. That is not so any longer....Fastenal is actually pretty good still. There is a LOT of industrial stuff available on Amazon though that simply is not available in small quantities that I still buy. A good example is small gear motors....cheap and reliable on Amazon where they are high as hell at places like McMaster Carr or Grainger. Same sizes and speeds and probably built on the same assembly line in China.

These two companies are really insane. Even with the free shipping on Grainger it is completely outrageous on most things.

Sam’s has been my go-to lately, they don’t have the selection that Amazon does of course, but they’ll typically have one of that thing and it will be better priced. And they ship by FedEx or deliver from the nearest store, so it’s similar to the speed Amazon used to be.
