People play wayyyyyy too far back. Pga tour average 2nd shot on a par 4 is 128 yards. What’s yours ? I’f it’s higher you need to play up. It’s got nothing to do with age and everything to do with how far you hit it.

I'm 60, and am comfortable playing anything 6300 or shorter. That's my first priority when playing any course other than my home course. Not sure age has any factor.

I am 53 and have never been a long hitter. Usually carry a driver about 220 and might get 235 with a good roll out . Probably in the fairway on 12 or 13 out of the usual 14 shots. I hit either dead straight or a slight draw. Pretty decent within 130 yards on approach and on the par 4s where I have 150 left I just hit a hybrid. Par 5s I will hit a 3 or 5 wood usually leaving me a 50 yard or less wedge. Hardly ever reach a par 5 in two shots. Enough to keep it fun and shoot mid 80s most of the time. I almost always play the whites and have been since I was in my mid 40s.

We have the following from longest to shortest:

black(champ tees)
blue
white
red (65+)
gold(women)

Typically we play a blue/white combo in our games. Blues for p4 and p5, and whites for p3's. If you are 65 and want to play all whites, you aren't invited

this speeds up rounds as the par 5's arent as reachable, but doesn't require 200 yard shots into p3's
