Wickard v Filmore ruled that a farmer violated the commerce clause when he grew more wheat than he was authorized. He argued that the additional wheat never entered the market - it was used to feed his cows.
USSC ruled that the extra wheat supplies a need of the man who grew it which would otherwise be reflected by purchases in the open market, which meant that it affected interstate commerce.
So if we grow our own vegetables, that also violates the commerce clause too, right?
