After he had the strikeout when the count was against him at 3-1 he went all Hess and Wild Thing and once it went south he could no longer manage the situation the way we needed.

They could have done anything besides what they did and have a chance to win.
1. Catcher stays home, pitcher tries for a force out at home. Bang bang play, goes to review. Worst case, tie ballgame.
2. Pitcher gets the ball, throws to first. Gets the out or not. Worst case scenario, tie ballgame.
3. Catcher charges, gets ball before pitcher. Makes a good throw, bang bang play. Worst case scenario tie ballgame.
The only thing you cannot do is throw the ball to the outfield.
