Can trace it all back to Wall Street and wanting to “maximize shareholder value”. Stock price is all that matters to these companies and their leadership. Are employees happy? No? We don’t care we’ll just replace them. Are customers happy? No? Oh well we’ll just find other ones and pillage the ones we keep for every cent we can. Are the shareholders (Blackrock, Vanguard, State Street) happy? Yes? Okay whatever we’re doing is correct.
