Hand-me-downs are the best for HS kids. I know that the car is still in good mechanical condition, but it's got a few dings on it, and if she were to wreck it, it's not the end of the world. Insurance would probably total it for a minor fender bender

Indeed. both of my teen grandkids have decent cars, handed down. My sis gave my older grandson her used Honda CRV.
I have one here for them when they come this summer. Will be nice not to have to play chauffeur this summer for them and their friends.
