quote:A lot of times it's some retired mawmaw just trying to get insurance or some spending money, either that or some kid on the spectrum who is earning a check. I try not to be a dick to people who are just doing what they were told and probably can only function with that task. It's 30 seconds of my time and a lot of times being courteous to them and exchanging pleasantries gets a smile from them. Why be a tool to someone just trying to make a living over a policy they have no input on? Don't be thief, let them do their once over, say 'Good morning/afternoon/etc, and tell them "have a blessed/good day". FFS.

The people showing a bit of humanity and empathizing with other humans aren't the problem here. It's the people who whine and moan about everything and instead of contacting the people who actually make the policies they cause an issue with the poor minimum wage worker who is doing nothing more than the task they were given that quite literally has zero effect on you as a consumer outside of the 15-30 seconds of looking at items not bagged.
