I used to go $20-$40 on daily drinker wine. But I've been successful staying below $20 for the last couple of years.

Stick to Europe, S America, S Africa, Australia...in the states I only by from Columbia Valley, Washington vineyards. Best value in USA wine

Stay away from Cabernet Sauvignon and anything from California. It's like a Rolex, everyone knows it so it carries a ridiculous multiplier

Trader Joes has some really great European wine and a rather wide varietal selection selling in the teens. I rarely go north of $20 a bottle on my everyday drinker stock. Cote du Rhone, Malbec, Cab-Syrah, GSM blend, etc. a few Italians in there

I keep a case or so of nicer $50-$100 bottles for once a month special occasions
