we do not have an FBS, let alone SEC, level interior front on defense

Jacobian Guillory has been on our 2 deep for years and was so in our SEC West Title team. Jalen Lee transfered from Florida. Shone Washington was on Georgia's team at one point. All SEC schools. We also have a 5 Star coming in that'll likely be in rotation.

Where do you get we dont even have an FBS level interior? Our DT situation is not ideal at all but its not as bad as you and others make it out to be.

Edited to address our new resident Debbie Downer (Draco)- post spring depth charts are not going to be the same as season depth charts.

Jalen Lee? What has he shown you since arriving at LSU to make you think he can make an impact? I have hoped for Shine but he had a terrible spring.

You’re right about the fall depth chart IF we get transfers….

Guillory is an SEC caliber DT for sure. And we all have hopes for McKinley but he'll be a true freshman making the jump from high school to the SEC. Ideally he would be worked into the rotation as a depth and developmental piece, not be needed as a key cog.

Jalen Lee may have played in the SEC, but he's not an SEC caliber DT. In 3 years at Florida, he accounted for 19 tackles. In THREE years. Last year we rotated him in for 7 games, he recorded 2 tackles. He is what he is, JAG.

Shone Washington played in 1 game at Georgia before transferring to Last Chance U. He played very well in Junior College and I think a lot of us had high hopes based on his high school profile and performance last fall. But according to those who watch practice and cover the team, he hasn't shined.

As I said before, I totally understand why Kelly declined to pay Damonic Williams' asking price. Damonic Williams is a good, not great player. He got paid that asking price because a number of teams, including us, mismanaged their DT position so it was a "supply and demand" thing and Oklahoma outed themselves as the most desperate. Oklahoma will now have to deal with a locker room in which the highest paid player is maybe their 12th best player.

But we absolutely mismanaged the DT position. We have one starter, a prospect and some depth pieces instead of our traditional two or even three deep. There's nothing we can do about it now but let Bo try to McGyver this collection of players into a serviceable unit.
